Upholstered Coffee Table

thrift store coffee tableRemember this coffee table from a jack pot trip to the thrift store I had? Well I finally got around to finishing it.

and then I cut a thick batting to fit the top. I just bought the thickest batting they had at the fabric store and tripled up on it. Doing this was still less than half the cost of buying foam.

I had a cheap blue fabric remnant that I had bought forever ago that was the perfect size for this project so I did not even have to do any cutting. If you do need to cut your fabric, just make sure you leave yourself enough fabric to wrap around the back of the board you are attaching it to.
I then just took a simple staple gun and pulled the fabric tight enough to take out the slack, but loose enough to not pucker my fabric. I just folded the corners over nicely until I liked how they looked and then stapled them as-well.

I love the detail on this table and didn't even touch the wood. It is so worn and beat up, but it looks so intentional to me. I love the driftwood look of the wood. This table is big enough to work as additional seating when I need it too.

I plan on just attaching the top to the table by using screws that will go from underneath the table up into my MDF half way. I just need to go buy the right size screws. I really want to add buttons to the top, but I am worried about Jayna pulling on them. So I haven't made up my mind just yet. She loves playing on the new coffee table though.
