Winning and Losing

Sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose some. Unfortunately this week I have lost more than I have won. Both my projects for the week did not turn out. First I wanted to make these...

I went and bought everything to make them including an anvil, but it just wasn't working-out. The letters where not showing up great and the letter A in my stamping set was not sharp enough. Maybe you have to use real silver. So after going over it with my husband and having him try too, he convinced me that that much effort was not worth flattened spoon garden markers and told me to just return everything.

I also attempted to paint on my Garden steps in front of my grow boxes, but the result ended up looking like juvenile side walk chalk art, and that was not what I was going for. So I had the husband turn them over. After he turned over the last step I felt like it was like my whole day never happened. Two trips to the hardware store with a two year old, a walk down a strip mall to the thrift store to buy the only three spoons they had, again with a two year old. Hours spent yelling outside for the dog or child to come back while I try to work on these two projects, all to end up at the end of the day with nothing. Actually worse than nothing, a whole bag of stuff to take back to the hardware store with a two year old.

My whole point in sharing this with you is that at times it may look like all us crafty bloggers do things with ease and can fit more into the average day or weekend than most, and our table linens are always freshly pressed and dishes set. It's not true! We fail at plenty of crafts maybe more than most actually because we are always attempting something new. We blog so much some weeks that our laundry never gets done and our children's toys never get picked up. So the next time you see perfect projects on someone's blog and wonder, "how do they do all that?" Know that there are lots of messes and failures to get to that one perfect looking project.

So after yesterdays failures I decided to take things easy today by

starting my seeds and

clipping some tulips for the dining-room table.

Look how Perfect! LOL!
